For merchants
This page is for the shop's administrator: what we read, what we do not read, and how we stop if you would rather we did.
Data collection policy
- Only publicly available data is collected: product name, price, stock status, product URL, SKU/GTIN. A price is a fact, not a copyrightable work.
- Your description texts are not copied — the crawler does not read a description field at all.
- Product images are not hotlinked: a copy is downloaded, stored on our own server and served from there. Provenance is recorded for every file (source address, shop, date), and on the shop's request the file is deleted within 48 hours.
- Before an image is downloaded, that host's robots.txt is read; if it cannot be read or it disallows us, the image is not downloaded (fail-closed).
- robots.txt rules and the Crawl-delay value are respected in full.
- Default load never exceeds 0.5 requests per second per host.
- The crawler identifies itself honestly. Browser impersonation and bot-protection bypassing are not used.
- Your price is always shown next to your shop name and a working link — your price is never used merely as comparison background for someone else.

Opting out — 48 hours
If a shop asks in writing, its products and any stored images are removed within 48 hours, with no argument. One sentence is enough:

You can also hand the data to us yourself
Either of these two is enough:
- A product file: XML or CSV — name, price, stock, URL, SKU. Once a day, at a time you choose.
- Or permission for our crawler — only price and stock are read.
If your site sits behind bot protection, we do not try to get around it: we stop and contact you instead.
Merchant panel
How many customers went to you, from which product and at which hour; which products you are cheapest on and by how much. On the free plan your price is still shown and your link still works.
The limits of our measurement
PriceTap does not measure behaviour on the shop's own site: time spent there, pages viewed, add-to-cart and orders can only be measured if you install our measurement pixel on your site. Without the pixel, the panel writes "not measured" in those sections and gives no estimated figure at all.
Billable clicks are bot-filtered, non-duplicate clicks. Bot and duplicate clicks appear in the report but are never billed — a shop should not pay for a bot.
